We had the most amazing trip to Portland last week. The boys and I drove down from Seattle during their midwinter break. With suitcases, scooters, helmets, and yoga mats we packed up the car and headed off for our adventure.
First stop was the Tiny Digs Hotel which is located in the hip Eastside of Portland in the city known as Kearns. There are plenty of restaurants and coffee houses to walk to, however we did take a short drive to downtown so we could scooter by the river and see a few sights.
Check out our beautiful tiny home we enjoyed during our stay. It was nice having the small kitchen so we could refrigerate our snacks we brought. The green tea kettle was fun to use with our chamomile tea in the evening.
We checked in on a Wednesday afternoon. The directions to get into the secure gate were easy to follow from the detailed email that was sent with the check in directions. There is only street parking but we never had trouble finding a spot. We explored the variety of Tiny Homes that are on the gated property. Each house is on wheels, comes with a full sized shower, and has a front porch. There is also a cute little fire pit in the middle, which is of course great for making s’mores. All of the Tiny Homes had their own door code to get in. It was nice not to have to carry a key or key card around. The owner made our code an easy one for us to remember and is changed for each resident during their stay.
It was so fun to see the themes of each of the homes: the barn, train, gypsy, beach (this is the one we stayed in and LOVED it!), cottage, bamboo, log cabin and modern. Some of them had a loft and pull out couch, others just had a queen sized bed with soft sheets and comforter.
I must admit, our bed/matress was so comfortable that we ended up sleeping 11 hours the first night! Hard to believe I know, with two busy boys, that they too could sleep that long. The windows all had curtains and most had black out blinds on them.
We had a double burner and the hotel provided french press coffee and several tea options. On the first night we enjoyed a cup of tea before bed. Each morning I enjoyed my french press as we were gathering our list of adventures for the day.
We felt safe coming home after our full days worth of city adventures. There was a beautiful stream of lights so it was easy to see the path to our home away from home. It was a quiet area even though it was located close the the street. I spoke with another family that was staying there and there windows were closer to the road than ours. She said they did not hear any traffic or outside noises during the night time. It is definitely nice to have that option to catch up on rest when you’re on vacation.
What a wonderful few days we had while we were in Portland. When you come here for a visit be sure to check out Tiny Digs Hotel. They are continuing to grow and add new homes. Make Tiny Digs your home while you visit the exciting and eclectic city of Portland, Oregon. I can’t wait for our next trip back, we have so much more to do, see, and shop!
